Learning points have been that I prefer straight line carving, more mechanical in vibe, construction methods could vary and be made from coiling or slab techniques rather than from solid blocks of clay. Refined clay body of Askam Grog is challenging to carve and is quite sandy.
Unfortunately one of my pieces cracked which we think maybe down to wedging issues which is something I need to consider given I am handling larger amounts of clay than I am use to. Therefore need to look at other techniques of making. Need to make plinths yet so that I can understand any issues to consider when installing pieces for exhibitions or in clients homes.
