Brick Askam Grog

Picked up my raw materials for testing this week. The picture above shows the shale material mixed with reclaimed clay 50:50 ratio, measuring 100mm square. This test is to calculate shrinkage rates at different temperatures.

The bisque firing to 1000 degrees C has reduced the tile to 95mm square.

The earthenware firing 1060c has reduced further to 90mm.
