Upscaling My Clay Recipe

Having made 1kg of my clay body I needed to try different techniques to increase production. I started with an empty plastic bucket and filled it with pieces of wet clay and soaked it over night covered in water to break down. In the morning I skimmed off the top layer of water and added my inclusions before mixing it with an electric hand mixer. The clay body was very wet (picture 1) and had to be left overnight on a plaster mould (picture 2). In the morning the clay was unwrapped and flipped over when it was able to be peeled away from the mould (pictures 3 & 4).

This method was my first attempt. In hindsight I should have spent longer mixing it together with the electric mixer as there were still big bits of black clay visible when I was sculpting the clay. My second method will be to dry the clay or buy powdered clay and mix it together with water to see if I get a better consistency.
