Rob showed me Alison Lockheads work entitled Death Boats. I love the texture of the pieces with the flash of colours against the matte of the clay. The brutal depiction of decay resonated with me, something which I am trying to portray in my own work. Her other collections of sculpture had a similar feel and although not fully to my taste, they did have an interesting quality. The mixture and layering of textures to each sculpture plus the contrast between the horizontal and vertical aspects of her work help to give depth to each piece. Scroll right for gallery images.
