Using different clay, this time a grogged stoneware paperclay. Pleased with shapes, particularly the rounder one as it allowed more surface to apply texture. Although wet, the clay didn’t perform the same way as the artic white stoneware. I think the grog prevented or reduced the torn effect to the texture, as I really appreciated that effect in the last boxes. Still need to spend some time refining the boxes as moisture levels are not at ultimate levels to finish the piece at this moment.
The boxes have now been fired. I was not happy with the first glaze I used, so decided to reglaze the two boxes. Mixing or layering different glazes can produce lovely effects, in this case I was very pleased with the final result.
